Terms.
By using the Spruit website or app, you agree to a few things. We've kept it readable.
What this covers
This covers the spruit.app website and the Spruit app for iOS and Android. Some clauses are about the site, some about the app, and we say which. Your download is also governed by the app store's own terms.
Website: what you can do here
Read, share, sign up for launch updates. You can't reverse-engineer parts of the site, scrape it for AI training, or use it to do something illegal.
App: your licence to use it
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Spruit app. The same limits as the site apply: no reverse-engineering, no scraping the app or its content for AI training, and nothing unlawful.
App: your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. You're responsible for your account and for what happens under it. The app isn't meant for anyone under 16, in line with our privacy policy.
App: your content
Your plant photos and notes stay yours. You give us the limited licence we need to store, display, and process that content so the app can work, including sending photos to our AI provider to generate identifications and care plans, and showing your content to members of any shared garden you join.
App: acceptable use
Don't use the app unlawfully, don't upload content you have no right to, and don't try to break, overload, or abuse the service.
App: AI guidance comes with no guarantees
Plant identifications, diagnoses, and care plans are generated by AI and can be wrong. They are not professional horticultural, botanical, veterinary, or medical advice. Use your own judgement, especially around plants that may be toxic to people or pets. We provide this guidance without any warranty that it's accurate.
App: subscriptions and in-app purchases
Spruit+ is an auto-renewing subscription. Credit packs are one-time (consumable) in-app purchases.
- Billing goes through your Apple ID or Google Play account.
- A subscription auto-renews unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- You manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not through us.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
- The price and term are shown in the app before you buy. Price changes are notified under the store's rules.
App: the app stores
Your download is also governed by the app store's standard terms: Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) for the App Store, and Google Play's default terms for Android. Where those terms require it, your agreement for the app is between you and Spruit rather than the store, and the store isn't responsible for the app or for providing support.
Both: Spruit's work
The Spruit name, mascot, wordmark, illustration, screenshots, and copy are ours. Cosmetic art in the app (hats, halos, packs) is also ours. Please don't use it without asking.
Both: no warranties
The website and the app are provided "as is". We try to keep things accurate and working, but we can't promise they'll always be available, error-free, or fit a particular purpose. Features, dates, and pricing can change.
Both: limit of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, Spruit isn't liable for any damages arising from your use of the website or the app, including indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Both: termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. You can stop using Spruit and delete your account at any time.
Governing law
Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the courts in the Netherlands.
